CSR Activities

CGU organizes a blood donation camp twice every year. We seek the support of private and government organizations to ensure reach and success. Our staff and students participate wholeheartedly in large numbers to do their bit.

Every year, we collaborate with the National AIDS Control Organisation and the Government of Odisha to raise awareness on World AIDS Day.

The team of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) comprises engineers who have been making their mark with exemplary humanitarian work. The EWB network of engineers has been working diligently to alleviate issues and challenges related to access to clean water, sanitation, energy, health and education to make the world a better place to live.

We visit orphanages and old age homes across Bhubaneswar regularly, but we decided to take a step further and went on a mission to discover young talent in different orphanages. We organised competitions and an event to honour the winners. Well-known social activist Shri. B. Prakash Rao was invited as the Guest of Honour who motivated them to achieve more. We also visited the Shri Krishna Anand Ashram to spend time with its residents and give them the love and warmth they truly deserve.

Committed to making an impact through novel initiatives, we adopted 5 villages in Odisha as part of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to develop and empower them. We took the necessary steps based on a survey conducted to understand the challenges they were facing. We donated funds and installed a Green Kitchen at Boulpur(Dhenkanal)to cook mid-day meals for students.

As part of our social outreach activities, the young technocrats of CGU operate a Mobile Science & Technology Laboratory for rural high schools. The lab includes 30 to 40 working models that allow students to conduct experiments. Video lectures on various topics are also deliveredto motivate the students for real-time experiments.

We distributed relief to those affected by the cyclone in the presence of Hon’ble MP Dr.SiddhantMohapatra and Hon’ble Minister Smt. Usha Devi.

We undertake different initiatives to implement the Swachh Bharat Abhiyanin villages and raise awareness about hygiene and cleanliness. Our students visited several villages and cleaned them and the surrounding areas. We also donated sulabh toilets in these villages.

Reading activities for underprivileged kids living in nearby villages helped us spread joy and cheer. We distributed books and study materials as part of this initiative undertaken by the Literary Club of the HSS Department.
