Shri Sanjib Kumar Rout
President,
CGU, Odisha
After completing a degree program in Electrical Engineering and Business Management, Mr. Sanjib Kumar Rout knew he had to do something different. Driven by an urge and passion to impart high-quality technical education, he set out on a transformative journey and set up an industrial training-cum-production center in the temple city of Bhubaneswar.
Soon, he established two more technical institutes – a polytechnic institute and a degree-level engineering college. For seamless management, he clubbed all the institutes under the banner of C.V. Raman Group of Institutions (CVRGI). The Government’s new Education Policy implemented in the years 1996-97 gave him the much-needed impetus to drive his endeavors.
A true visionary, he has made significant contributions to propel socio-educational growth with his unique pedagogy and leadership. In just two decades, CVRGI has become a vehicle of educational reform driving change and improving lives through the diversity of thought.
C. V. Raman College of Engineering (CVRCE), the flagship institution of CVRGI and the pride of Odisha, now has an iconic win to its credit. Winning the first Gold Medal for India in the Water Technology category at the WorldSkills competition in Russia, it has reiterated its position as an undisputed leader in building the future of skills through training and innovation.
CVRCE has been renamed as C.V. Raman Global University, Odisha (CGU, Odisha) after it acquired the status of a university. This achievement reflects the relentless efforts of its President and his perennial pursuit of putting CGU on the global map of education. While CGU charts its course to become the most sought-after global university, It continues to reset its goals to help the younger generation set sail toward a bright and promising future.
