Dean’s Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences at C.V. Raman Global University (CGU), Bhubaneswar, India. Our mission is to prepare students, farmers and industry for the future through innovative education, research and extension programs.

Following the guidelines of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), as amended from time to time, the college offers 4 years B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 4 years programme and awards degree to the eligible candidates. The department also offers postgraduate programmes in M.Sc Zoology, M.Sc Botany and M.Sc Biotechnology.

Our faculty, staff, and students are committed to learning, creating opportunities and the overall success of CGU. Our research and extension efforts focus on activities to support agriculture and industry in Odisha. The department on the lush green campus of CGU established lab and instructional farm facilities for practical exposure of students. Our faculty work very closely with our colleagues from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), State Agricultural Universities (SAU), other academic institutions, International institutions, and private sector.

Overview

Faculty of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (FAAS), Bhubaneswar, is one of the most ambitious educational initiatives under the aegis of C.V. Raman Global University. The institute was established under para -8 (iii) (12) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment notification No.3541, dated: 18.02.2021. The department is on a residential campus wherein students and agriculture co-exist. The department has been operational since the academic year 2020-21 seeking a unique and entrepreneurial outlook for Agricultural Education. Currently, 300+ students are pursuing their degrees in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The department comprises 15+ disciplines viz., Agronomy, Horticulture, Fruit Science, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Soil Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Biotechnology, Nematology, Seed Science and Technology, Agricultural Statistics and Animal husbandry.

Understanding current industry needs, FAAS has designed an efficient agricultural education curriculum as per the guidelines of ICAR. The department provides an efficient platform and blended learning experience where knowledge, resources and opportunities meet. Prospective graduates are taught various fundamental, applied and advanced courses to address bottlenecks and sustainable solutions as a part of B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture curriculum. Our graduates are kept abreast with ongoing research projects and farm business models in India and abroad.

CGU’s Agriculture and Allied Sciences is focused on giving an extra mile to the
knowledge and career of graduates because our students unique track record in skill competitions and placements speaks volumes about their practical exposure and training.

Objective

Graduates will acquire the conceptual and practical knowledge, skills, and
competency necessary for various disciplines of agriculture and allied sciences, enabling them to effectively solve problems in agriculture and related fields. Additionally, they will develop entrepreneurial skills and cultivate professional aptitude while upholding ethical and moral responsibilities in the workplace and society, thereby contributing to the economic growth and development of the country. Moreover, students will have ample opportunities for both employment and higher education within the dynamic agricultural production system or enterprise.
