HOD’s Message

Welcome to the Department of ECE, CGU-Odisha. Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) is a branch of engineering that deals with the design, development, and application of electronic devices and communication systems, digital signal processing, and antenna engineering. The Department of ECE was established in the year 1997 to produce world-class Engineers and Researchers in the field of Communication Engineering, Electronics System designing, Embedded & IoT, Signal Processing, Image Processing, and Robotics. The department made progressive strides during the last two decades for its best practices in teaching-learning, Industry relevant courses, R&D activities, and student placement. The department’s faculty members are well-versed in cutting-edge research fields like AI-ML, VLSI, IoT, Cyber Security, Industry 4.0, Health informatics, 5G, and beyond. The research projects of the faculty members are still ongoing, and they are publishing their research in highly cited reputed international journals with SCI indexing. The department takes an active role in planning numerous seminars and workshops to advance staff and student research knowledge. With the assistance of knowledgeable staff and the department’s readily available standard research lab facilities, our department’s students are also strongly encouraged to put their original research ideas into practice. Using these ideas, the students have won several accolades at the national and international levels including world skills competitions, and Smart India Hackathons.

Currently, the department is offering two UG programs including B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, and B.Tech in Computer & Electronics Engineering. One PG program M.Tech in Signal Processing & Communication, and Ph.D. in Signal Processing, Image, and Video Processing, VLSI and Communication Engineering, Audio Signal Processing, AI-ML, Health Informatics, IoT, 5G and beyond, industry 4.0. The department also has three Centres of Excellence including the Robotics Centre of Excellence, PCB & Circuit Design-System Centre of Excellence, and the VLSI-FPGA Centre of Excellence. ECE students have a wide range of placement opportunities in various industries, including telecommunications, aerospace, healthcare, government agencies, and many others. The job profiles include Electronics Engineer, Communications Engineer, Signal Processing Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, and RF Engineer.
