HOD’s Message

In a technical university, the work of the HSS Department is rather challenging. It is called upon to take care of learners belonging to diverse levels of proficiency. Some of the learners possess a relatively high level of proficiency in English, whereas a vast majority of learners have a low level of proficiency. There are also zero level learners of English. To design appropriate syllabus for such mixed groups and to bring them up to the expected international standard of proficiency in a short span of time is a challenge that the Department has been confronting. I’m glad that the department has been squarely meeting this singular challenge with complete dedication and commitment. On top of this, the department has its own dreams and aspirations. Its dream is to become a truly international hub for humanistic studies and research in areas pertaining to comparative language and literature. Having this objective in mind, it has already put its best foot forward by launching its M.A and Ph.D programmes in English. I’m sanguine that its dream of turning international will soon bear fruit.
