HOD’s Message

It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to the Department of Electrical Engineering, C.V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar. The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 2002 and is dedicated to develop skilled engineers to meet industry needs and thereby develop responsible citizens for our country and society. The aim of the department is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be the game changers of the global society. We have expert faculty, world class laboratories and state of art research facilities in our department. Our faculties are very dedicated to facilitate the students to gain academic knowledge in the frontier areas of both electrical and electronics engineering, and also train them to solve real world problems. We offer four year B.Tech program in both Electrical Engineering (EE) & Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), two year M.Tech program with specialization in Power System Engineering and M.Tech – Mechatronics . Apart from UG &PG programs we have Ph.D programmes with a focus on Renewable Energy system, Power Electronics Converter design for PV and EV application, Micro Grid, Smart Grid, Condition Monitoring, Image Processing and Machine Learning application. We have Centre of Excellence (COE) by GalSen, Schneider Electric, SEW Eurodrives, Quanser and Siemens etc. Every year our students participate in World Skills events and win many medals and bring honour to our University. We also offer tutorial classes to mentor the students for GATE and other competitive exams. Our students have scored good ranks in GATE examination and have got placed in many core companies like Tata Power, Tata technologies, Adani group, Vedanta, Voltas Beko and many more. Apart from academics and technical skills our students have come up with flying colours in cultural activities like dance, music, drama, poetry, mono acting and many more.

About Department

The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 2002 and is dedicated to develop skilled engineers to meet industry needs and thereby develop responsible citizens for our country. While retaining its strength in traditional areas of engineering, the department is growing to the current needs of the industry with regular improvements in its curriculum according to different requirements. Imparting strong fundamental concepts to students ,motivating them to find innovative solutions to engineering problems independently and application of interdisciplinary technology in various fields of Electrical Engineering is the main focus in the curriculum of the department. The curriculum of the department includes many advanced courses with a focus on Smart Grids, Electric Drives and Traction, Renewable Energy, Electric vehicles, Artificial Intelligence & IOTs. The department has a Society of Electrical Engineers (SoEE) with all students of the programme as members. The society provides the students a platform to interact with their counterparts from other colleges, leading academicians, industrialists, and professional bodies. Through its well-established mentoring system, the faculty pays personal and individual attention in motivating and moulding young students into qualified professionals and responsible engineers. The programmes of the department are accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) & National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Department has state-of-the-art laboratories in almost all areas of Electrical Engineering in order to promote a congenial academic environment to impart quality education. The department has the latest simulation tools like MATLAB, SIMULINK, LABVIEW, PSCAD – EMTDC, ETAP, PSPICE etc., to cater to various specializations and is equipped with facilities for measurement, characterization and synthesis of experimental, and theoretical results as well as for research. The Department of Electrical Engineering has also established collaboration with industry to enhance practical knowledge and skill development through various skill training centres in association with TTL Pune, Schneider Electric, SEW Drives, Bosch Rexorth, Quanser Advance Control & Siemens Germany and many more to develop consultancy projects, internship and job opportunities in the core sector. The department regularly conducts field visits to industries like OPTCL, SLDC, OHPC, NTPC etc. , through which students are exposed to real world and its functioning. Our department students are highly encouraged to participate in national and international level competitions like Smart India Hackathon, India skill Competition and are winning prizes. Department of Electrical Engineering creates a congenial atmosphere and ample research facilities for undertaking quality research to achieve national and international recognition by faculty and students. Our department actively conducts International and National level Conferences in association with professional bodies like IEEE, Springer etc.
